Opera On a Shoestring is a small, independent, professional company based in Glasgow. A Viennese Whirl at Cowal Music Club, January 2010 Many congratulations to our soprano Shuna Scott Sendall - second from the right above - winner of BBC Radio 2's Kiri Prize. Audiences from our recent concert in Birnam will have recognised Shuna's award-winning performance of Dich, teurer Halle from Wagner's Tannhäuser, which she repeated at Proms in the Park before singing a trio with Kiri te Kanawa and Jose Carreras. "Opera On A Shoestring have a reputation for doing exactly what they say on the tin: presenting quality operatic productions on the tiniest of budgets. A packed Cottier Theatre was testament to the expectations the company generates... The audience was not disappointed."- Mark Brown in The Scotsman on Carmen, 2003"A well-balanced programme, an ever-present atmosphere of good fun and top class professional performances from singers and pianist were what made this a night to remember."- The Galloway News on A Viennese Whirl, 2009“The real strength of Opera On A Shoestring is collective. They have succeeded in consistently delivering a strong flavour of authentic opera which transcends the limitations of staging and the lack of orchestral accompaniment through a focus on quality singing and a genuine commitment to the music.” – Kenny Mathieson in the Inverness Courier on An Evening In Paris
